19 and 20 October 2024: Paddlesport Instructor Course

This is a 2 day course running at the Seapoint Centre on Prince’s Parade

Times: 9.30am-5pm each day

The Paddlesport Instructor is aimed at those running taster/starter sessions and short journeys in very sheltered water environments, within the safety management systems of clubs/centres or other organisations.

Requirements: PSRC course within 4 weeks of the course taking place. Candidates must be Paddle UK members and registered the award with Paddle UK before the course begins.

The qualification will support the instructor with practical skills such as kitting up a group and getting afloat, initial familiarisation activities, games and activities to support learning and how to use mini journeys to support learning, inspire adventure and exploration.  This will be enhanced with support on how these sessions can be delivered in a way that is enjoyable, safe and rewarding.  

The process of completing the qualification aims to help prepare candidates for their first paddlesport instructing role; ‘primed and ready’.  

The qualification will cover a range of stable craft including kayak (this can be open-cockpit or closed-cockpit), open canoe, sit on top and stand up paddleboard. Candidates will be certificated in one craft but able to instruct a mixed fleet.

Note: Our Centre is located on Prince’s Parade, and is in view of the seafront. If driving from Folkestone, turn left onto Prince’s Parade and Seapoint will be the second turning on your right, the car park is signposted. There is a pay and display parking in the carpark adjacent to the centre, metred parking is also available on Prince’s Parade.
